You can send a post to a Usenet newsgroup by using the New Post command on the File Menu of the NewzToolz Reader.
When posting to a newsgroup, you do not have to use your real name and email address. You should never use your real email address because this is one of the places where spammers harvest them. And if you are posting to a sensitive newsgroup such as alt.i.cant.stop.beating.my.wife, you may not want to use your real name.
At the top of this window, you have a drop-down menu of Identities that you can use. You can create as many Identities as you like via the Profiles window, which you can open from the Setup menu. When you change the Identity, NewzToolz will fill in the “Other Headers” and “Sig” boxes. It will also use the name and email address of that Identity, though the email address is not shown on this window. You can see it on the Preview window.
If you are not knowledgeable about using optional headers, leave the “Other Headers” box empty. If it is not formatted correctly, the server will reject your post. This is a feature for power users.
You can type whatever you want into the Subject, Body and Sig boxes.
When you are done typing your Body, click the Format button to see how it will look when posted. Just like email, newsgroup posts have to be formatted so that the lengths of the lines are not too long. You could press the Enter/Return key after each line, but you don’t need to. NewzToolz will automatically re-format any lines that are too long. Clicking the Format button will let you look at the adjusted text, and re-format it to your liking if needed.
You can attach a small file to your post using the Attach File button. If you attach a file that is larger than 700kb, then it may not “propagate” well. That means that it may not be able to travel to all the Usenet servers in the world because some of them have size limits.
Use the Clear Attachment button if you change your mind about the attachment. However, if you do this, make sure to edit your Subject line since the Attach button adds some file details to it.
When you are ready, click the Preview button to continue.
